Opera… the ‘next’ big thing
Sunday, March 11th, 2007
Well, not really the next big thing. Given Opera (as a company) has been around for … (checking the opera site)… an impressive 12 years now I can hardly call Opera the next big thing. Some history I started using Opera a few years ago when FireFox – previously known as Phoenix, then Firebird – [...]

Firebug is a little buggy
Thursday, March 1st, 2007
Anybody know where I can ‘fire a bug’ to the folks on the firebug team? I’ve poked around on their website and nothing jumped out at me. Update: I just found it, way over on google code.

Thickbox
Wednesday, February 28th, 2007
ThickBox is a webpage UI dialog widget written in JavaScript on top of the jQuery library. Its function is to show a single image, multiple images, inline content, iframed content, or content served through AJAX in a hybrid modal. http://jquery.com/demo/thickbox/ Look at the demos, that’s pretty slick.

A few days old now, but Yahoo! has just recently announced they will be providing free hosting of the yui javascript libraries. Which is great news, if this fits your security policy. Ultimately, I’m happy to see them doing this, as it makes a lot of sense in terms of caching and keeping your application [...]

Inconsistent Interpretation with Web Development Best Practices
Wednesday, February 14th, 2007
Over the years, I’ve come across many web developers that have inconsistent interpretation of what best practices are. In most cases it’s a lack of knowledge at no fault on the individual. I don’t want to risk sounding elitist, but I’m generally current on new methods, formats, tools, and “standards“. I’m one of those guys [...]

Flickr… I have no excuse but ignorance
Thursday, February 8th, 2007
You know, I try hard not to be ignorant. But all along here I was being ignorant to Flickr. Perhaps I didn’t want to be one to jump on a bandwagon, or I was happy to think I would rather have ultimate control hosting my own photo gallery with (wait for it…) coppermine. (yes, ewwww) [...]
