You know, ideas are really not that hard to come by. Maybe it’s just all the reading I’ve been doing lately but I definitely have my imagination cap on as of late. How does that proverb go again?
The problem of course is time; finding time to pick through the ideas and then run with one of them. All ideas are unique of course, some are appropriate as a hobby, others as a website, others still can be developed into a business. All take time so you must pick your battles and choose wisely.
Now, if you take a look at my bookshelf, you will find a few books on there, most notably:
- “Founders at Work“
- “Return on Imagination“
- “The Myths of Innovation“
- “Trump Strategies for Real Estate“
- “The New Buffettology“
Each one of those tends to have the same focus. Ultimately, they are inspirational.
Also on my bookshelf is one of my favorites, “In Praise of Slow“. While this book may (at least in the name) appear to contradict the list above, I think it’s a very important book. And a book that everyone should read. In a nutshell:
take the time to smell the roses
Which brings me back to the ideas. Given all the motivation, inspiration and desire in the world; I can understand you make the time for the right idea. In making that time, just make sure you balance it with your life and your family.
Where was I going with all this? I’m not sure, but I’ve been thinking a lot about this lately, and felt the need to put it out there.
