Most of us will be quite familiar with the auto-response or Out-of-Office email features found in many popular email clients. However, it’s a feature that hasn’t been available for the web email users – until now.
Best described in the Gmail Help Center:
Going on vacation? No access to the Internet? No problem! Use Gmail’s vacation responder to let people know you won’t be able to get back to them right away.
And some fine print that might get overlooked but shouldn’t:
* Messages classified as spam and messages addressed to a mailing list you subscribe to will not receive a vacation response.
This is actually a relatively big deal as it potentially helps combating future spam targeted at your inbox.
I’m still waiting on the ‘reminders’ and ‘calendar’ feature to show up. Given the Vacation Auto Responder, they may not be that far off?
